Sandra Helena Alves Bonon, researcher from the Research Commission, Virology Laboratory, School of Medical Sciences (SMS), University of Campinas (Unicamp) attended the World Wide Conference on Infectious Diseases held in Dubai, UAE, from November 25-26, 2019. The Conference focus was on Clinical, Medical, Life Science, and Engineering & Technology. The aim was to provide an excellent forum for upcoming young researchers, scientists, professors, and other highly affiliated people to share their research in that particular field.

Sandra participated as a speaker with a topic Scenario of active viral infection monitoring in children and adolescents with glomerular disease under immunosuppression treatment in a single-center study. This study was did together with Nephrology Pediatric Team and it was a doctorate thesis in the graduate program in child and adolescent health, under her advisor.

“In contrast with pediatric renal transplantation, few studies highlight the consequences of different viral infections in children and adolescents with Idiopathic Nephrotic Syndrome (INS). The results of this study suggest that when there is suspicion of viral infection, specific tests of molecular biology should be used to confirm or rule out disease and the etiologic agent.”

Sandra also participated with an oral presentation on Zika virus and other viruses associated with neurological syndromes from patients attended in the Clinical Hospital at Unicamp in which she talked about the use of molecular biology techniques to detect the viral etiology of infection in patients with suspicious of infection in nervous system. In addition, was discussed the clinical symptoms associated with the viral infection, coinfection, and the knowledge of the circulation of Zika virus, Dengue, Chikungunya, Yellow Fever, Enterovirus and Herpesvirus in our region. This research is another doctorate thesis in the Internal Medicine Graduate Program, under her advisor, too. The researches was funded by Fapesp.

“I was honored to be invited as speaker for the Worldwide Infectious Diseases Conference run by Aver Conferences. It was delight to attend at Dubai, Infectious Diseases 2019 conference I was impressed with the speakers and caliber of the Participants. Some professors showed interest in our university and in our researches, and they would like to visit us and send their students. I already have been invited to be speaker in the next conference, in London, UK, 2020”.
