Santiago Arcentales, a sixth-year medical student from the School of Medical Science (SMS), University of Campinas (Unicamp), attended a 4-week theoretical-practical internship at the largest orthopedic hospital in the United Kingdom, The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, in Birmingham, on  January, 2020.

Santiago had the opportunity to participate in surgeries and ambulatories at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital. His internship was supervised by one a higly qualified and worldwide recognized professional, doctor Adesegun Abudu.

Santiago focused his activities mainly in the orthopedic tumors area which is the subject of his scientific research in Brazil. He had the opportunity to participate in cases discussion (MDT’s) with other foreign professionals attending fellowships at the same hospital.

Despite the fact of being the youngest member of the Birmingham group, Santiago stood out positively in the activities, having been recognized by his tutors. He held Unicamp's medical school name high and has received an invitation to return to the United Kingdom to finish his training.
