The medical student Laura Almeida, from Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin (Germany), finished an internship at SMS Unicamp. She told about her experience:  

“During the four weeks of my stay at Caism women's hospital, I experienced countless moments of empathy and high quality medical service. I was surprised by the vast knowledge of Unicamp's health professionals and I am grateful for everything I was able to learn from these people. I had very enriching conversations with medical students and professors, who were always willing to answer my questions, share their experiences and demonstrate the importance of ethics, resilience and humility in medicine. Not only did I notice the differences and similarities in medical treatment compared to Germany, but I was also able to closely monitor all the dedication and commitment of residents, nurses, medical students and professors to improving the lives of their patients. I fell even more in love with the field of gynecology and obstetrics and learned to value cutting-edge technology, scientific research and, above all, humanity in women’s health care. Unicamp's School of Medical Sciences is certainly a world reference and offers outstanding infrastructure and numerous resources to its employees, students and patients. Seeing so many people in socially vulnerable situations seeking help from the hospital and being treated with such excellence and competence was something that warmed my heart. I can't wait to share these stories with my colleagues in Germany”.
