Last month, Maximilian Hinz, medical student from the Medical University of Innsbruck (MUI) – Austria, realized an internship in the Department of Neurology during the period of 2 to 31 of May. His internship was possible due to the Cooperation Agreement established on March 2019 between School of Medical Sciences/Unicamp and MUI.

His words below demonstrate the success of his visit and internship:

"On the day of my arrival I was welcomed by the whole team and got a good overview of the neurological department and the research facilities as well as the other departments of the Hospital das Clinicas. On the following day, I joined the Neuromuscular Department which I have a special interest in. After the first few days in the OPD Prof. Cendes allowed me to set up my own schedule of clinics and meetings I wanted to attend, which I appreciated a lot. Through this, I also gained some insight into Spine & Brain Surgery. A highlight of my rotation at Hospital das Clinicas was joining a case of epilepsy surgery which was performed by Neurosurgery together with Prof. Cendes and his team. I want to thank everyone involved for the great hospitality and teaching I experienced throughout my stay", said Max.

Maximilian was the first student from MUI to complete a clinical internship in our department. For next year another student is already scheduled.

We would like to highlight that this agreement between Unicamp/MUI can help also Brasilian students to go abroad. Those who has interest in traveling to Innsbruck for a clinical or research internship should contact: gti@fcm.unicamp.br
