From 13th of March until 30th of June, the School of Medical Sciences (SMS) of the University of Campinas (Unicamp) received Catherina Chiapella, a sixth-year medical student from the Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf, Germany. Catherina carried out four months of her clinical year at the Clinical Hospital of Unicamp.

During her stay, Catherina had the opportunity to rotate in three different specialties: pulmonology, nephrology and clinical medicine.

Catherina had the chance to get to know and participate in the daily activities of local interns and residents. These activities include attending lectures, joining morning rounds, assisting with outpatient treatment and many more.

Aside from the work at the hospital, Catherina greatly enjoyed her spare time in Campinas: hanging out with friends and going to the fair of Praça do Coco. Asides, she especially loved going to capoeira classes and dancing forró.

“I want to thank everybody involved in my clinical elective at Unicamp! Besides having been a great educational experience, it was a truly important opportunity to get to know the Brazilian healthcare system, SUS. I hope that many more exchange students get to have the same chance to study at Unicamp!”
